  1、 实行策展人制度

  1. Implementing The Curator System

  本届国际美展延续并强化了策展人机制。展览设置总策展人一位,联合策展人一位。由总策展人制定展览主题,构建展览框架,并依据展览总主题选择联合策展人,再由联合策展人自主制定展览分题,并在分题框架内选择适合的参展艺术家。目的在于尽可能保证展览的视线是完整而不局限的。

  This edition of the festival will continue with and also strengthen the curator system. There will be one General Curator and one Joint Curator. Suitable artists will be selected based on the overall theme determined the General Curator, the exhibition structure, the Joint Curator chosen by the General Curator, the topics of the exhibition that the Joint Curator is independently responsible for, and under the framework of individual topics. The goal is to ensure that the exhibition’s field of vision is complete and unlimited.

  总策展人是中国艺术史家吕澎(Lu Peng),他对中国近现代艺术的历史有长期的研究,并从80年代开始参与到了中国的新艺术的实践当中,对中国当代艺术有充分的了解,同时,也因为对西方艺术史的翻译和研究,参加不同形式的国际性的展览策划,与具有国际性影响的策展人有过合作,因此,基于展览举办的地方是中国,本届展览由他来出任。

  The General Curator is Chinese Art Historian Lu Peng. He has extensively researched the history of Chinese modern art and participated in the practice of new China’s new art from the 1980s on. He has a deep understanding of contemporary Chinese art, while also working on translating and researching Western art history, participating in planning different kinds of exhibitions, and collaborating with curators of international stature. As this exhibition will be held in China, he was chosen to lead it.

  联合策展人莱蒂奇娅·拉加利亚(LetiziaRagaglia)对欧洲艺术领域的工作具备丰厚的经验,和北美同仁交往也很密切,具有相当的国际视野。在艺术方面具有敏锐的判断力。她也曾经是威尼斯金狮奖的评委,她将一个规模不大的美术馆带入国际视野的关注中,具有充分的组织与学术能力。因此,在对涉及西方国家提名艺术家的选择与判断上,会有利于更为准确有效的甄选,并保证展览学术方面的完整性。

  The Joint Curator Letizia Ragaglia has rich work experience in the field of European art and also has a very close relationship with North American colleagues, thus providing a truly global view. She has sharp critical facilities with regards to art, having once served as a judge for the Venice Golden Lion Award. She brought a small art gallery into eyes of the international art world and has excellent academic and organizational ability. Thus, for the selection and judgment of works from Western countries she will be accurate and precise, while also ensuring the integrity of academic aspects of the exhibition.

  2、 成立学术委员会

  (2) Establishing the Academic Committee

  考虑到展览的国际性质,展览组委会邀请了7位策展人和批评家成立了专门的学术委员会。七位成员分别是:李章旭Lee Janguk(韩国)、Heidi Ballet(德国)、申宝瑟Nathalie Boseul Shin(韩国)、何桂彦、付晓东、杜曦云、卢迎华。学术委员的主要工作是提名参展艺术家,对参展艺术家及其涉及的艺术问题写出学术报告。更为具有挑战性的是,他们要在参展的几百位艺术家中甄选出6位在艺术和学术上被本届高度认可的艺术家,同时通过展览的学术论坛进一步表达他们对当代艺术的看法。其中3位是分别来自德国和韩国的策展人,我们认为这个文化背景和知识结构有利于对参展艺术家在全球范围内的选择。

  In light of the international nature of the exhibition, the Organizing Committee invited seven curators and art critics to form a specialized Academic Committee. These seven members are: Lee Janguk (South Korea), Heidi Ballet (Germany), Nathalie Boseul Shin (South Korea) He Guiyan, Fu Xiaodong, Du Xiyun, and Carol Yinghua Lu (the last four are Chinese). The main role of the Academic Committee is to nominate participating artists and write academic reports on the participants and art-related questions. More challengingly, they must select six artists out of the hundreds participating in the exhibition for special recognition, while at the same time expressing their views on contemporary art in an academic forum at the exhibition. We feel that the cultural background and intellectual thought process of the three curators who hail from South Korea and Germany will benefit the exhibition’s selection of international artists.

  7位评委也是富有经验的策展人,在确定参展艺术家之后的沟通以及展览设计方面,他们还有很多工作参与。实际上,他们也扮演着展览分策展人的角色。

  The seven members judging committee also is made of curators with rich experience. They have extensive work to do communicating with artists after participants have been determined and setting up the exhibition design. In fact, they also play the role of curators.

  3、作品的征集与评选

  (3) Collection and Selection of Works

  本届美展采取全球公开海选与学术委员会提名推荐两种结合的形式征集作品。一方面,美展组委会在海内外媒体广泛发布征集广告,广泛征集中外优秀艺术家作品,艺术家可统一到在线报名通道报名,提交资料;另一方面,评审委员会委员提名参展艺术家,由策展人对提名的艺术家进行选择,确定参展艺术家。本届展览计划展出800件左右作品,涵盖400位艺术家的各种美术门类和表现媒介。

  This edition of the festival uses both open global selection and nomination by members of the Academic Committee as means of selecting works. On one hand, the Organizing Committee will extensively advertise the exhibition in domestic and foreign media to collect a wide range of outstanding Chinese and foreign art. Artists can use the unified online application system to submit materials. Separately, the Selection Committee Members will nominate artists to participate and curators will select and confirm the participating artists from the nominees. The festival plans to exhibit around 800 works of 400 artists that cover different fields of fine art and performance media.

  在本届美展的奖项设置上,计划设置6位学术奖项,不分等级。这是基于当代艺术因各自的特殊性(形式、材料、主题、效果)而不应该有机械的评判标准,评委们将根据自己在艺术和学术方面的知识与经验,进行综合判断。

  For this exhibition the plan for the award system is to give out six academic awards that are not differentiated by rank. The awards should be granted based on the many distinctive characteristics of contemporary art (form, materials, theme, effects) and should not be determined by mechanical criteria. The judges should make comprehensive judgments based on their artistic and academic knowledge and experience.
