The exhibition of Anselm Kiefer's works in China opened from March 11 to May 11, 2017 at the Baijia lake Art Museum in Nanjing, the second stop of the exhibition after the Central Academy of Fine Arts. 78 works of Anselm Kiefer, a German neo-expressionism artist, was displayed. This exhibition highlights the artistic tenet of neo-expressionism, that is, to always focus on history and reality, at the same time to cope with the changes in social conditions, as a style paving the way for promoting the innovation of painting language. Neo-Expressionism has become a recognized art genre in the history of Western art, and Kiefer with his passion,as the most influential artist of neo-expressionism, his continuous expansion of expression forms is highly praised by the art circles. His distinct creative techniques not only overthrow the definition of conventional easel painting, but also exert far-reaching influence on the development of contemporary Chinese art in recent decades.
